DPJ Suomi Oy (dpj.fi) wants to sell office furniture by spamming. The ESP is the Swedish epostservice.se, whose terms of service permit opt-out spamming wherever it is legal (Item 6).

DPJ may have managed to listwash my business, but otherwise it is business as usual: spamming business addresses harvested from the Finnish Business Information System.

The message announces the address source as “PAR”. This is inconclusive, inadequate as per the law, and leads nowhere. A search of PAR in the BIS produces over 200 results, please narrow down your search and therefore leads nowhere. And it so happens that Section 25 of the Personal Data Act requires that the file used, the controller and the address of the controller shall be mentioned.. Clearly “PAR” is woefully inadequate to satisfy this requirement.

The spamtraps that they hit (see also another post on a similar topic) mean they’re also processing outdated and erroneous personal data in violation of Section 9 of the Personal Data Act.

Human-readable spam content: Hardly any. The most important bit is a FOAD on how you’re not using a HTML capable mail client. But at least the unsubscribe is there, although the address source (however inadequate it may be) is not.
