(RESOLVED) EventFlame Oy / Pronto Group International Oy: Inviting a spamtrap to a design fair

EventFlame Oy, who operate the Design Market Satama fair that will be organised in Helsinki in a week’s time, want to invite a spamtrap to visit the fair. Update Feb 8: A phone call from the CEO indicates they recognised their mistake in having bought a mailing list and will not be doing this again.

EventFlame Oy has been registered in November 2008. The spamtrap (the address of a natural person) that was invited changed owners in September 2009. Designfair.fi was registered in January 2011, and the business whose customer file this was supposedly sent to, Pronto Media aka Pronto Group International Oy, was only formed (see the biz reg!) in mid-October 2011, over two years after the domain changed hands.

A show of hands, please: who thinks the original owner of the spamtrap can have registered in the customer file of a business that only started to exist two years afterwards?

Lisäksi kustannamme antiikki-, hevos-, kädentaito- ja askartelualan lehtiä. Kaikki lehtemme ovat verkossa ilmaiseksi selattavissa. Tutustu koko palettiin osoitteessa www.prontomedia.fi

Voit poistaa sähköpostiosoitteesi listalta tämän linkin kautta:

An interesting sideline: The removal URL is of the form http://server.example/something/XXNN, where XX are letters and NN numbers. I tried a few that weren’t the one shown in the message and got “Unfortunately we could not locate you on our mailing list.” Now being a UNIX admin by trade, scripting

for [a variable] in {a,b,...,z}{a,...,z}{0,1,...,9}{0,...,9}
do
  GET http://removal.url.example/sumptin/$[a variable] &
done

doesn’t seem like such a hard thing to do, but how will their server handle 67,600 nearly simultaneous queries? Suppose I won’t even try.
