Dear Colleague,George Church, Professor of Genetics and Director of the Center
for Computational Genetics at Harvard Medical School will be giving a
plenary keynote presentation entitled “The Personal Genome Project –
Open Access to Genome Sequences + Trait Data” at the Omics
Evolution Summit to be held on May 29-31, 2012 at the Hyatt
Harborside Hotel in Boston, MA.The Personal Genome Project
enables open observation and critique of a large cohort “test-driving”
comprehensive participatory personalized medicine. Since 2004, George
Church and his team have helped push the cost of reading and writing DNA
(and biological systems) down by a million-fold (5-fold faster exponential
than Moore’s law) and enabled fully open-access human
Genome+Environment=Trait (GET) data, stem cells, and clinical community
curation / interpretation tools (Evidence.PersonalGenomes.org).Dr.
Church will be speaking in the Plenary Keynote Session of the Omics
Evolution Summit. Other keynote speakers in the session include
Craig C Mello, Ph.D., Distinguished Professor of Molecular Medicine and
Nobel Laureate, at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and
HHMI, and Steven Burrill, CEO of Burrill & Company. The Omics
Evolution Summit will bring together leading pharmaceutical and
diagnostic companies, top scientists and government experts to discuss
research and developments in drug discovery, new technologies and the
evolving landscape of the industry in genomics, proteomics, RNAi,
next-generation sequencing, epigenetics and protein kinases. The
Summit will have six tracks that will allow attendees to engage in
individual programs – or portions of all tracks – while enjoying
networking opportunities with all attendees, speakers, poster presenters
and exhibitors:2nd
Genomic & Proteomic Drug Discovery
2nd
Next Generation Sequencing
2nd
Epigenetics in Drug Discovery
3rd
RNAi Research and Development
7th
Protein Kinases in Drug Discovery
Genome-wide
Partnering & DealmakingIn
addition, there is a Pre-Summit Clincal
Sequencing Workshop on May 29th that will present an overview of
sequencing product profiles and technical underpinnings as well as discuss
from a user’s perspective the many issues of the implementation of
Next-Generation Sequencing into the clinical space.Sign
