(RESOLVED) Schneider Electric Finland Oy: No means yes
Schneider Electric Finland Oy is one of the many parties whose customer registers contained, presumably quite legitimately, the addresses of many employees of Savon Voima Oyj, the previous owners of the atro.fi domain. I requested them to clean their registers of email addresses at this domain on December 9, 2011, and received a response from them the same day in which they indicated that they would be cleaning their lists. I am sad to report that it didn’t happen. Several addresses that used to belong to Savon Voima employees received an ad from them today. The ESP is Damex Multimedia Oy. Update Jan 16: They tell me in private email they’ve just done a s/atro.fi/newdomain.example/g in their address register. I can’t tell if the new addresses are all valid, but at least it won’t be my problem any more…

And no, the HTML part, which I can’t see in my email program, doesn’t contain the legally required information on the personal data file used, either.
A bit of background, now that I’ve had the occasion to check.
The first I heard of them was on June 7, 2010, when they asked their contacts to participate in a playful betting regarding the footie world championships. This was sent to four addresses that I could see. I don’t know why, but I’ve managed to ignore it at the time, and apparently not even announcing the sending lxg.com IPs in 193.235.17.0/24 to anybody else. That message did not contain an indication of the personal data file used (Personal Data Act, Section 25 requirement) nor did it contain any hints on how to be removed from the list (Act on the Protection of Privacy in Electronic Communications requirement, Section 26 in the case of natural persons).
Then they went silent for about a year and a half, and the next I heard of them was in the beginning of December 2011, when they sent through Responsys to thank the same four addresses for their “recent” purchase of Schneider Electric products and wanted them to complete the survey. (Just how recent is that?) That message didn’t contain an indication of the address register used, either.
The only really noteworthy bit about today’s spam is that it was sent to more addresses than the previous two were, which only serves to prove my point about not wanting to unsub the addresses piecemeal. I can’t know how many they have still waiting to be mailed; they all need to be removed from all registers in accordance with Section 9, Paragraph 2 of the Personal Data Act, which forbids the processing of outdated or erroneous personal data.
