Possible Email Append from Deb Shops

Deb Shops has all the hot fashion in junior and plus sizes, or so their website tells me. I have never been to a Deb Shops store, and I do not think they even have one in my town. I only heard about them when they started sending unsolicited commercial email to an email address of mine back on December 28, 2011, with two more mails since. Based on the email address receiving this mail, I think this was an email append or similar process. The ESP is Bronto.

  1. I don’t think that it breaks Charles’ anonymity to note that he’s a) *well* over the age that this store normally targets (which appears to be adolescent girls) and b) is male. 😉 Assuming that this was sent to one of his personal email addresses, e-pending looks likely to me as well.

    • If it were an append it must have been to a prospect list not their house list. Also is it possible Deb Shops purchased email data and didn’t tell Bronto they did so?

      • It’s definitely possible that Deb Shops purchased a list, and that list could well have been an e-appended list. There are many such lists for sale, some of them by companies that IMHO should be viewed as outright spammers but are often widely viewed as legitimate. :/ Til Deb Shops responds either to Charles directly or to Bronto (whom I suspect will be contacting them shortly) and and provides more information, I don’t think that we can determine where the point of failure lies.
