This is in relation to my previous posts on the topic. They Just Don’t Get It, and that means none of the parties involved.

I couldn’t even opt out of this using the means provided at the bottom of the message. The opt-out would only take place after logging in, and needless to say, I am not the intended recipient, don’t know their password to Keltainen Pörssi, and would probably commit a crime if I tried to hack my way into their account.

On a related note, I recently received a reply from the Data Protection Ombudsman on a similar topic unrelated to this sender. A very large sender (a major retail organisation, comparable in size to Sanoma Oyj, Finland’s largest news organisation) had indicated that they refused to remove all @atro.fi addresses from their list as I had required because they won’t adjust personal information in their registers based on the demands of anybody but the registered parties themselves (meaning all the individuals whose outdated personal information they continued to process illegally, I take it). The Data Protection Ombudsman has set that particular sender straight with respect to Section 9, Paragraph 2 of the Personal Data Act, which requires them not to process outdated or erroneous personal data. Perhaps the DPO will set this sender straight too, I hope.
