Hälyx: Selling security to spamtraps

Something calling itself “Hälyx” is advertising business security services to spamtraps.  The message contains the admission that the source of the register they operate, which they decline to name as required by law, are “public address sources on the Internet”.

The spam service provider is Panic Marketing, no stranger to us here, unfortunately, who also operate the web bug in this message (“<img src=’http://static.dmt.panic.fi/scripts/handle_reademail.php?x=<timestamp.x.x.swift@dmt.panic.fi>’>).

Bisnesrekisteri.fi / Lateralus Enterprise / Tavoite Media: Deliberately violating opt-out, deliberately processing outdated and erroneous personal information

No need for copy of any kind, as the message is the same as yesterday. Only the target address matters here, and that’s trivial to deduce. Headers below, anyway.

More spam just in from the spammer at Lateralus Enterprise / Tavoite Media advertising the spam registers for sale at bisnesrekisteri.fi. Now the mails contain a disclaimer to say “This is an advertisement meant for companies that does not require prior consent according to law.” Well, it’s still spam, and it gets listed and otherwise treated as spam nonetheless.

Seattle-based department store Nordstrom is sending email advertisements to a recently re-enabled email address that closed in 2005. Guess what? Lateralus Enterprise once again

Finnish spam with anonymized domain registrations, collaborators in India, spamming IP and hosting in Romania, target addresses outdated and erroneous personal ones from the Finnish Business Information System, legally required items on sender identification, address list source missing… Gee, I wonder who it is whose spam matches these characteristics?  We’ll know soon enough if Directi agrees to de-obfuscate email-offer.org, I guess.

Mediakomppania (see biz reg), a Finnish private person carrying on trade, is doing their utmost to discredit their ISP, Hurja Solutions Oy. Hurja is aware of this and chooses to ignore the matter. By the spammer’s own admission, he is using purchased lists from Suomen Markkinointirekisteri Oy and Digitoimisto Haikuu.
