Carwash.com: Spamming a Decade-Closed Email Address
Some outfit that I have never heard of before, PC&D B2B Trade Group™ aka Carwash.com, started sending bulk email advertisements last week to an old email address of mine that was retired over a decade ago. Carwash.com is part of EBSCO Publishing. The ESP is ExactTarget.
I can think of only two reasonable explanations for this email address appearing on Carwash.com’s list: a malicious subscription (since the email address is known to belong to me) combined with a failure to confirm subscriptions, or a a purchased list. Carwash.com claims that this newsletter is, “Sent to over 10,000 opt-in subscribers every Tuesday and Thursday.” I wonder how many subscribers who did not opt-in also receive it? Hmmmm?
