Equifax failing to honor unsubscribes
Equifax sent this gem on 10/13/2011 to an address that was given to them in order to obtain a credit report under FACTA on 7/24/2011, opted-out several hours later the same day, got spammed by Equifax on 9/21/2011 and did the unsubscribe thing again on that date.
Note that the List-Unsubscribe header in this sample isn’t redacted; the sender actually sent it with an empty mailto link. Whether or not the bogus List-Unsubscribe header, as well as the failure to honor previous unsubscribes are accidental or intentional is anyone’s guess. The ESP in this case is NCR.
