Seq 5 Oy, also trading as Siteseq, is spamming to attract new customers for its webpage design services.

In February 2011, this bunch spammed my business with the same. I wrote it up and dude responded with a vague legal threat unless I removed the mention of certain businesses that he figured were not involved. (They own the domain names, so of course they were involved. They still are. I checked and the WHOIS is unchanged as of today.) I haven’t heard from the authorities on the topic. But he hasn’t spammed my business any more.

Now that I have a bunch of fresh traps, some of which are (quite incredibly) currently valid business addresses despite having been dead for a decade, I see that Mr Rantala keeps spamming. I wrote to let him know that his address list, which the spam admits was bought from a known bad player, contains outdated and erroneous personal data. Mr Rantala’s answer? “We have just purchased an up-to-date list, so this should no longer be a problem the next time.” (It will be.) I expressed regret at the fact they were spamming. “Yes, it’s a part of our marketing strategy.” At least he’s honest about his intentions.
