Bisnesrekisteri.fi / Lateralus Enterprise / Tavoite Media: Deliberately violating opt-out, deliberately processing outdated and erroneous personal information

No need for copy of any kind, as the message is the same as yesterday. Only the target address matters here, and that’s trivial to deduce. Headers below, anyway.

On September 19, 2011, I let the spammer know (with a copy to the Data Protection Ombudsman) that he was sending unsolicited commercial email to an address of a natural person that couldn’t possibly qualify as a business address any more because the domain had changed hands (over two years ago at that point) and the present owner was not the old owner, had no connection to the old owner, and was not a business but a private person.

No response.

The target address used to exist in the Finnish Business Information System as the contact address for the forest ownership “business” of one of the employees of the previous domain owner, ever since September 2005 or so, until I let the person involved know about this at about the same time the spam was received and it was changed in October 2011. (But it turns out that the history feature of the FBIS can be used to view past email addresses, which might be why this address, and the previous contact address for my business, keep getting some spam: perhaps the spammer has an advanced FBIS harvester that gets the history information too.)

No excuse for not respecting opt-out,
no excuse for processing outdated and erroneous personal information,
no excuse for not supplying a description of the personal data file upon request, or to the general public.

(And there was an identical spam to the same ineligible target address on April 25, 2012, too.)
