iZettle: Enticing spamtraps to start accepting credit card payments
During August 2015, and possibly earlier, the Swedish provider of lightweight card payment solutions, iZettle, has enlisted the services of Roy Knows Best, also known as Salesleads Scandinavia AB, for their advertising.
As it says on Roy’s web page, “We provide high quality B2B leads for your sales team”, so it is clear that the leads are not email addresses that iZettle collected legitimately on their own, because they were provided by Roy. Unfortunately Roy’s claims about high quality aren’t very accurate either, as they are hitting many spamtraps that are so old that neither iZettle (formed in 2010) or Roy Knows Best (formed in late 2013) could have legitimately acquired them at any point. And, it’s a list the use of which iZettle purchased from Roy anyway, so all hallmarks of spam are met.
