January 2015 in spamtraps: ESPs
Here’s how the various email service providers (ESPs) rated on our “hitting spamtraps” scale in January 2015:
Things to keep in mind:
- Our spamtrap collection does not represent the whole world, and it has numerous biases with regard to certain regions. It is hardly representative of “The World”.
- Mail sent by ESPs amounts to approximately 1% of all mail seen at these spamtraps. But then again, the CBL mostly keeps the botnet stuff from reaching anything resembling a regular inbox. ESP mail is mostly not blocklisted by anyone. Having said that, it is still several thousand messages per day.
Make of it what you will.
