Political Spam Today: Romney and Warren Pile On….

Today’s spam take: seven spam emails from one presidential campaign, one senatorial campaign, and our old friends the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). The DSCC, DCCC, and MittRomney.com are really pumping it out today. :/ Mailings from the DSCC, DCCC, and ElizabethWarren.com are blocked by SpamCop, a major blocklist. So far MittRomney.com has escaped listing on any widely-used blacklists, but if the spamtrap hits continue at this rate, that won’t last.

Political Spam Today: Democrats, Republicans, and Libertarians Alike

I admit it. I’ve been hesitant to talk about the flood of political spam that is hitting my spamtraps because there’s so much of it that I don’t know where to start. But the situation is crazy and getting worse by the day. So welcome to the new Political Spam Today report on the MainSleaze blog.

John Waltz: Spamming Spamtraps to Solicit Campaign Contributions

John Waltz, Democratic candidate for U.S. Congress in Michigan’s Sixth Congressional district, is sending bulk email to email addresses that were closed before 2008. Either Mr. Waltz previously ran for office before 2008 and gathered a list of supporters at that time that he has not contacted since then, or his campaign has purchased or otherwise obtained a list of email addresses that did not request bulk email from him. The ESP is Salsalabs, the ESP side of liberal U.S. political activist group Wired for Change.

Nancy Pelosi: Urging a Spamtrap to Donate to the Democratic Party

U.S. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, emailing via the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), is urging an email address that has not been live since before the previous presidential election to donate to the Democratic Party. The DCCC is sending a *lot* of spam to a number of spamtrap email addresses of mine, so much that I’m surprised they haven’t been listed by a major blacklist yet. The ESP is Blue State Digital.

DCCC: Thanking a Spamtrap for its Support!

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), an organization within the U.S. Democratic political party who was reported for spamming here a few days ago, is now sending bulk email to thank an email address that was closed long before the 2008 presidential campaign for supporting Democratic causes and candidates in 2010 and 2012. Go figure. :/ As before, the ESP is Blue State Digital.

DCCC: Mailing Long-Closed Email Addresses

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), an organization affiliated with the U.S. Democratic political party, is spamming email addresses that have been closed for years, and in the interim bounced email at SMTP time with a 500-level rejection for over twelve consecutive months. In other words, these email addresses are spamtraps. If the DCCC continues to send bulk email to them in the quantities that I am seeing, they are likely to end up in trouble with anti-spam blacklists.
