Las Malvinas Electro: Electronic Goods for Spamtraps

Argentinian electronics retailer Las Malvinas Electro just sent bulk email for the first time to an email address that has been closed for years, if it was ever active at all. The domain is active, and belongs to an American who does not speak Spanish and has no connection to Argentina or anywhere in South America. The ESP is Lyris, also known of as Uptilt and Emaillabs.

  1. I’ve suspended the account until we can chat with them about where, exactly, they are getting their addresses – your experience is just one of several indications of list quality issues.

  2. Let us know whether the company bought a list or something. Not that I really have to ask. (Nor, I am sure, do you.) 🙂

  3. They were vague about the source, but… we can make certain assumptions. In any case, they will not be allowed to send to that list again from Lyris, and I’ve warned them against sending to it from anywhere else as well.
