Nothing new to report, this old acquaintance (www, biz reg) is still spamming.
I suppose it qualifies as an ESP Problem now that Elastic Email have failed to respond to complaints on numerous occasions and the spammer is still busy spamming through their services.
A one-man business from Uusikaupunki (www, biz reg) wants to sell promotional pens to spamtraps. The ESP is MailChimp, the campaign execution has something to do with the advertising agency Mainostoimisto Ilmiö (www, biz reg), and the list is a purchased one (what a surprise) from Fonecta (yet another whopping surprise).
There’s a new player in town, Oraakkeli Oy (www, biz reg). They figure they’re doing something better than their competitors (that is, everybody in Finland spamming B2B lists completely indiscriminately) by spamming CEOs only. Their front page proudly says something about how they provide targeted B2B advertising and have a list of 35,944 CEOs from the 168,000 or so Finnish businesses in their list. The customer whose pitch they’re touting to “CEOs” is Finink.com (www, biz reg), an online retailer of printer inks.
eSoft Online Shop, a personal d/b/a of Erno Tiepuoli (www, biz reg) is spamming to sell electronic gadgets. The ESP is Elastic Email, whose terms of service do not allow the sending of spam, or the use of purchased lists, and specifically make reference to Spamhaus’ definition of spam. I’ve notified Elastic Email (by email to abuse@elasticemail.com) about this spammer no later than Nov 22, 2012, but haven’t heard back from them, and the spammer is still busy spamming. The address source is Eniro, which is another d/b/a of Fonecta. In other words, it’s a purchased list.
SportElite Marketing Oy, under the unregistered d/b/a Aim Higher (www, biz reg) is spamming to solicit sponsorship for sportspeople. Their spam service provider is the Fonecta/Ixonos collaboration, which currently means they’re experiencing serious delivery problems. Which is only appropriate given the unusually poor quality of Fonecta’s lists (even with respect to the other crap everybody else is peddling that has its origins in the Finnish Business Information System) and their utter failure to understand the problem that is spam.
According to a change on November 1, 2012 to its information in the Finnish Business Information System, Lateralus Enterprise is now resident at Valliniemenkatu 6 F 59, 48900 KOTKA. This 30 m² property was recently for rent. The ownership of the telephone number 040-594 0756 indicates the corresponding change, although Fonecta Finder hasn’t noticed yet that Lateralus Enterprise would have moved from Sokinsuontie 7 A 22, 02760 ESPOO. Even Tavoite Media‘s own web pages still display the old address. What’s more, it indicates another person as definitely having to do with Tavoite Media. So he’s not just a misguided customer, but an actual partner in spam. Thanks for confirming, dudes. BTW. If you list a portfolio of customers and three of the eleven are you yourselves, isn’t that kind of sad? (Getwin Oy, BisnesRekisteri.com, and Trendikauppa.fi.)
During October, I’ve been seeing spam to my traps that has to do with quitting smoking with the help of electronic nicotine dispensers. It’s so far off the scale it’s not really mainsleaze, but there’s a few things here that need being published.
SH-Group Oy, also doing business as Data Media Gazelle, under the domain name kuriero.fi, is spamming addresses found on “public Internet pages and Fonecta Kohdistamiskone B2B” with ads for their spamming service. How anybody bothers setting up one in this day and age is beyond me. I wish you all could read their press release (only in Finnish), it’s got practically every item in Rhyolite Software’s excellent Spam Is That Which We Don’t Do list. I particularly like the argument that apparently spam is environmentally friendly.
I recently googled the words can I use a purchased email list and just had to share MailChimp‘s brilliant take on the topic. Yeah, I know it’s pretty old and predates this log by a year or three. Looking at the Finnish B2B spam my traps receive, practically all of which is sent to lists sold by the so-called reputable players Fonecta, Eniro, Asiakastieto, JM Tieto, and of course the drive-by-night yahoos such as Suomen Markkinointirekisteri Oy, Digimediatoimisto Haikuu (“Haiku”), Bisnesrekisteri.com aka Lateralus Enterprise d/b/a Tavoite Media whose primus motor objects to being named and has enlisted the help of the Data Protection Ombudsman’s office to have his name stricken from this post, and Yrityspostia.fi aka Suunnittelutoimisto Jotain… aka Janne Laitinen, I felt compelled to mention this – if only so that (at least any responsible international) ESPs reading this would know that if their Finnish customers mention any of the above in their mails, they’re using a purchased list.
JS Media (see biz reg; a personal d/b/a of Jukka Saario) wants to teach spamtraps how to deal with Facebook Timeline. Addresses are outdated and erroneous and the sender indicates having bought them from Fonecta. The ESP is Campaign Monitor, whose anti-spam policy forbids the use of purchased lists.
