Effortia Oy still happily spamming away via YourMailingListProvider

Effortia Oy, an old acquaintance here, continues to spam Finnish B2B via ymlp.net / Your Mailing List Provider. YMLP is turning a deaf ear to complaints sent via email and their website. The spam-advertised websites are hosted by Hostingpalvelu.fi.

I see increasing deliverability problems for

MailerLite again

In a blog post titled Email Segmentation Without User Data, MailerLite, aka UAB “Itema”, are putting forth the view that you should be “segmenting” by sending your contacts more email about the same basic idea with different subject lines to see which email performs the best.

Now this doesn’t really address the point of whether you’re sending by permission or without it, and of course MailerLite’s policies (ToS, privacy policy and anti-spam policy) read just fine, but our previous experiences with MailerLite suggest that even their own idea of what is acceptable may not be quite as highbrow as put forth in those documents.

Discussion on several anti-spam mailing lists is currently centering on the topic of how to best avoid MailerLite pre-emptively in its entirety, by IP, domain name, shoe size and other relevant parameters…

Vocus Pt. I, wherein PRWeb re-use a very old list

Way back in 2008 or so I briefly had an account at PRWeb, and in 2009 I unsubscribed. Imagine  my surprise when I received the following on November 06, 2013. I complained to the ESP, Vocus, and I was told they were handling it. I was then informed by IP-holder Eloqua that Vocus had unsubscribed me, but I was not given any information about how my address was added to this list nor why I was spammed.

Xtravaganza.fi / kevytkauppa.fi: Do businesses really worry about weight, or eat snacks?

Xtravaganza.fi / kevytkauppa.fi (domains registered to In Shape VIP Oy Ab, and Edlit Production Oy, respectively), who look like they might be somehow related to Shape.fi, are spamming Finnish B2B addresses (including outdated and erroneous personal ones) to offer them “snacks you can eat with a good conscience”.

Shape.fi (Fit Production Oy): Spamming Finnish businesses into shape?

Over the past week or two, a new kid on the block has been announcing their arrival on the scene by spamming. A business formed over last Christmas, Fit Production Oy (ex M. Productions Scandinavia Oy, biz reg, founded by this person (Facebook link – don’t click if logged in to FB)) is advertising their new service, shape.fi in spam. Their spam service provider is the infamous VenaMail (MailCom Europe AB), who have a Spamhaus SBL listing to their name (and, one should hope, a few more on the way), and their ISP is Zoner, who some time back joined the ranks of the illustrious by complaining to the Data Protection Ombudsman about a public copy of a response of theirs (an unsatisfactory one of course) to a spam complaint (regarding spam they themselves have sent; so why am I even dreaming that Zoner would do anything about a spam-advertised site – they advertise their own services via spam, after all).

Pastelli: Selling domestic kitchen and bathroom renovation to B2B spamtraps

Unfortunately it’s not an April Fool’s joke.

Pastelli Oy (www, biz reg) has been at it for a long time, my personal collection goes back at least a year.

Pastelli’s spam service provider is Scion Systems Oy (www, biz reg, spam service page). This business doesn’t bother informing the world of any Terms of Service, so supposedly spamming and the use of purchased lists are all just fine. They also offer the possibility of spamming their own B2B list.

I tried to inform the spam service provider about the previous incident (also involving a renovation company) in December 2012, but not having heard of RFC 2142, they don’t have an abuse@. Didn’t bother any further.

eSoft – Verkkokauppa (Tmi Erno Tiepuoli): Still spamming to sell electronic gadgets

Nothing new to report, this old acquaintance (www, biz reg) is still spamming.

I suppose it qualifies as an ESP Problem now that Elastic Email have failed to respond to complaints on numerous occasions and the spammer is still busy spamming through their services.

Nothing new under the sun: Koulutuspalvelu Vaikutus (www, biz reg), who share at least one player with a spammer we already know, PowerCompetence, continue to spam to sell their courses, with a travesty of an address file announcement that amounts to wiping their bottom ends with Section 25 of the Personal Data Act.

Informa IBC Sweden and CarmaMail: Incompetents’R’Us and failing to observe opt-out

An address on my namesake domain had apparently subscribed to this list back in the days of old (before August 31, 2009, which is when they abandoned the domain). They took their sweet time before using the list – the first incident I witnessed was on August 9, 2012. (Incompetents’R’Us #1)

Toshiba Finland: Contracting with known spammers to sell printing services to spamtraps

Toshiba Finland (www, biz reg) have contracted with the sorry spammers from Turku, Panic Marketing (www, biz reg, LinkedIn) to carry out a marketing campaign. Approximately 1.8 billion inboxes have already said “no” to this missive.
