A few days ago, somebody tweeted a copy of a letter Fonecta, the Finnish spammer and list vendor, had sent to its customers. The matter also made news in Finnish IT press (Tietoviikko).

Nebula Oy (www, biz reg, responsible people, financial details), my favourite spam-support hosting provider here in Finland have taken the next step on their road to oblivion – by advertising their own services via spam. Their own Terms of Service might not amount to much, but this is decidedly a big step downward.
In the Finnish version of the Why won’t you tell us what email address was spammed article, I surmise that e-pending is largely unknown in Finland.

Xtravaganza.fi / kevytkauppa.fi (domains registered to In Shape VIP Oy Ab, and Edlit Production Oy, respectively), who look like they might be somehow related to Shape.fi, are spamming Finnish B2B addresses (including outdated and erroneous personal ones) to offer them “snacks you can eat with a good conscience”.
According to Kauppalehti, the Finnish trade/commerce newspaper, Fonecta has had to shut down the email parts of its Kontaktikone spam machine because of Spamhaus listings.

SportElite Marketing Oy, under the unregistered d/b/a Aim Higher (www, biz reg) is spamming to solicit sponsorship for sportspeople. Their spam service provider is the Fonecta/Ixonos collaboration, which currently means they’re experiencing serious delivery problems. Which is only appropriate given the unusually poor quality of Fonecta’s lists (even with respect to the other crap everybody else is peddling that has its origins in the Finnish Business Information System) and their utter failure to understand the problem that is spam.
Spammers using Fonecta’s spamming services through Ixonos in November 2012. There might be more; this is what I saw in my traps.
Possibly following a certain difficulty in sending spam from their own IP address range, Fonecta have entered into a strategic business partnership with Ixonos (a Finnish provider of IT services). Now Fonecta spam is being sent from the Ixonos cloud instead as of mid-September 2012 or so.

SH-Group Oy, also doing business as Data Media Gazelle, under the domain name kuriero.fi, is spamming addresses found on “public Internet pages and Fonecta Kohdistamiskone B2B” with ads for their spamming service. How anybody bothers setting up one in this day and age is beyond me. I wish you all could read their press release (only in Finnish), it’s got practically every item in Rhyolite Software’s excellent Spam Is That Which We Don’t Do list. I particularly like the argument that apparently spam is environmentally friendly.
